Advances in sustainable, methanol-based fuels bring us a step closer to carbon neutral shipping.
Athan Tountas is a Ph. D. candidate in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry, University of Toronto under the supervision of Professor Geoffrey Ozin and Professor Mohini Sain. His research focus is on studying methanol synthesis from carbon dioxide assisted by light and other upcycled carbon dioxide products.
Clean-burning synthetic fuels made from renewable ethers could replace carbon-based fuels and contribute to a cyclic carbon economy.
