The Institute of Plastics Processing (IKV) in Industry and the Skilled Crafts at RWTH Aachen University organises the conference entitled “Rubber meets Science – Organic and Silicone Rubber Processing” on October 14 and 15, 2013, in Aachen. The program covers in two parallel sessions current trends, innovations and challenges in both organic and silicone elastomers. Professor Andreas Limper from Harburg-Freudenberger Maschinenbau will be chairman for the organic rubber session. The chairman for the silicone rubber session Oliver Franssen comes from Momentive Performance Materials.

The IKV conference aims to show how high performance elastomeric components can be manufactured using innovative materials, new compounding techniques and revolutionary processing methods. Raw material suppliers will present their latest approaches and developments in new elastomeric material technology and manufacturing. Material processors will share how to overcome problems in producing high quality elastomeric parts economically. End users of high performance elastomeric components will show new application trends based on current research projects and their approaches.

This international conference is primarily aimed at engineers, chemists and physicists from the rubber industry who work in the area of development, part and tool design, simulation, production planning, process improvement and quality assurance.

Speakers come from DuPont, Switzerland, Hexpol Compounding, Luxembourg, Hutchinson, France, LANXESS, the Netherlands, ELMET and STARLIM Spritzguss, both Austria, and from companies in Germany which are Bode, B.Braun, Dow Corning, Freudenberg Forschungsdienste, HJG Consulting, Momentive, Robert Bosch, Scarabaeus and Sigmasoft. Speakers from IKV will contribute their latest research topics in the field of rubber technology.

The conference will be held in English.
