Thomson ISI have released their 2011 Impact Factors – here are the top results from polymer science.

Journal of Polymer Science Polymer Chemistry cover Impact FactorsThe Journal of Polymer Science Part A: Polymer Chemistry continues to be the preeminent source for research in fundamental organic polymer chemistry and physical organic chemistry.  The 2011 Impact Factor of 3.9 reflects their long history of providing a continuous forum for the dissemination of fundamental and international research into the preparation and properties of macromolecules, and keeps them firmly in the polymer science top 10.

The recent expansion in scope and rejuvenation of the Journal of Polymer Science Part B: Polymer Physics has resulted in unprecedented growth in the journal’s immediacy index. The measure, which reflects citations to papers within their year of publication, quadrupled over the previous year’s index, showing the interest of the scientific community in the papers published last year and giving a strong indication of a great impact factor to come in the next two years.

Other changes include an increase for top ranked journal Progress in Polymer Science – to 24.1 – followed by Polymer Reviews with 6.3 and Biomacromolecules in number three with 5.5. The Journal of the American Chemical Society moved to 9.9, Angewandte Chemie International Edition increased to 13.4, Macromolecules has a new Impact Factor of 5.2, and Polymer Chemistry got its very first – 5.3.

Macromolecular Rapid Communications cover impact factorsMacromolecular Rapid Communications enjoyed an increased Impact Factor of 4.6, consolidating its position as a top journal publishing original research in general polymer science.

The Impact Factor of Macromolecular Bioscience increased by over 10% to the journal’s highest value ever of 3.9, maintaining its ranking among the top 5 biomaterials journals.

Macromolecular Materials & Engineering has reached a new Impact Factor of 1.99 – the highest level in the journal’s history and confirming MME’s position as the leading journal focusing on the design and processing of advanced polymeric materials.

Macromolecular Theory & Simulations, the only polymer science journal dedicated exclusively to theory and simulations, increased by almost 20% to an Impact Factor of 1.7.

Macromolecular Reaction Engineering, the only high-quality journal dedicated to the field of polymer reaction engineering, has a new all-time-high Impact Factor of 1.85, with an increase of almost 20%.

The increased Impact Factor for the Journal of Applied Polymer Science (1.3), the largest peer-reviewed publication in polymers, together with its longstanding reputation in both industry and academia for all polymer applications, confirms it as the top choice for researchers in the field, with a stunning 1.7 million articles downloaded over the past 12 months (+30% over 2011).

Stefano Tonzani, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Applied Polymer Science, commented “With the relaunch of the journal in full swing, the increase in Impact Factor gives us, our authors and our reviewers, the confidence that we are looking forward to another great year and the continuous growth of this title”.
